Week of November 2, 2026

  • Main Floor: New steel beams will arrive and be installed, and wall close-in inspections will take place.
  • Ground Floor: Above-ceiling mechanical rough-in work begins.

Week of November 9, 2026

  • Main Floor: Walls will be closed in and drywalled. Framing and drywall installation for the new bulkhead will also take place.

  • During construction, most library services have been relocated to the large meeting room downstairs, commonly known as the Smith Room. Patrons will enter and exit through the portico doors. Meetings, programs, and other activities will be confined to the Lions meeting rooms. Our children’s wing remains unaffected. Please follow posted signage for entry and exit.

  • Due to limited circulation space, study rooms and adult-use spaces are currently unavailable. Patrons may remain in the circulation area only while accessing library services and resources. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

For our patrons:

  • During construction, our main collection is unavailable for browsing, but patrons are welcome to explore our selection of: new releases, the browse collection, recently returned materials, newspapers, and top-circulating titles.
  • To access titles in the main collection, please place them on hold. Please ensure your contact information is correct. Library staff will contact you once the materials are ready for pick-up.
  • The Children’s wing and children’s collections will remain unaffected.
  • Public computers, printing, copying, scanning, and other essential services will remain available during construction.

Founded in 1882, the Milford Public Library has served the community for nearly 150 years. After closing due to funding challenges, the library reopened in its current iteration in 1927. In 2027, Milford Public Library will celebrate its 100th anniversary. The Centennial Transformation Project aligns with this milestone, positioning the library to enter its second century as a safe, modern, flexible, and sustainable cornerstone of the community’s infrastructure.

The Centennial Transformation Project includes a full HVAC system replacement, upgraded electrical systems, interior space reconfiguration, new bathrooms, and renovated finishes throughout the library. We appreciate your support and patience as the library begins this project.
