Youth Summer Lunch Program 2026
Free lunches will be provided for youth younger than 18 at the library! Lunches will be served from 12:00-1:00 PM Monday-Thursday, starting on June 29, until July 30. These meals are limited and while supplies last. Please inform library staff of any allergies, and we will do our best to accommodate. Special thanks to the Milford School District for supplying the lunches.
No required registration.

Playaways and Audiobooks
Want to listen to a story? Check out an Audiobook or Playaway in the children’s library.
Audiobooks are stories on CD’s that can be played with or without a headphone & are pre-loaded onto each device. No internet or Wi-Fi needed. A universal headphone is required.
Playaways are pre-loaded audiobooks that give library patrons the portability and freedom to take audiobooks everywhere. No connectivity or downloads are needed — ever. Playaway is always ready. AAA batteries are not supplied.
Tonieboxes at the Milford Library
What is a tonie & toniebox?
The Toniebox is a soft, screen-free speaker for children. Using magnetic figurines called Tonies, toddlers and young children can navigate storytelling and music independently, opening up their world to a library of education and entertainment. It is a kid-safe media platform filled with content from premium partners including National Geographic, Penguin Random House, and LeVar Burton. In addition, original Tonies® content offers hours of storytelling, songs, mindfulness activities and more. Tonies help bring on-demand, screen-free education to children.
You can borrow a Toniebox kit and Tonies free with your library card for up to 1 week with 3 renewals allowed. Three Tonie figurines may be checked out at one time. These items may only be picked up at the Milford Public Library.

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten
Register your child for the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program at the Milford Children’s Library. You can keep track of the book list through the app or the record keeping folder that will be given to you. Children get a printed award for each group of of 100 books read. Participants will receive a free book and stuffed animal when the program is complete with proof of documentation. We are looking forward to partnering with you to promote literacy for your child!

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library provides FREE books by mail for children ages birth up to 5, statewide!
In the Imagination Library program, children ages birth up to 5 receive a book in the mail each month.
These quality books are selected by a national panel.
The purpose is to develop the habit of reading, and to develop the library habit, too!
